MadridDesignPRO, the festival’s professional programme, brought together renowned professionals like Li Edelkoort, Petrus Palmér, Jan Boelen, Benjamin Hubert and Jaime Hayon for 150 hours of activities at COAM

Madrid Design Festival welcomed 105 participating institutions, brands and spaces which hosted 248 activities with the participation of 420 designers and professionals and 66 exhibitions and urban installations

The Festival OFF hosted almost twice as many spaces as last edition with a total of 77 shops, spaces, showrooms, restaurants and design studios

The festival recognised Gaetano Pesce and El último grito with the Madrid Design Awards

The exhibitions continue in different spaces around the city: Fine Print: Illustration and Fashion in the Museo ABC until the 19th of May; The Power of the Image. Ágatha Ruiz de la Prada in the Museo del Traje until the 31st of March; and the four shows at the Museo Nacional de Artes Decorativas, among others

312,000 people participated in the activities of Madrid Design Festival 2019. The festival welcomed 105 participating institutions, brands and spaces which hosted 248 activities with the participation of 420 designers and professionals and 66 exhibitions and urban installations.

Likewise, the Festival OFF hosted almost twice as many spaces as last edition with a total of 77 shops, spaces, showrooms—Roca Madrid Gallery, Miele, Camper and bulthaup claudio coello—restaurants and design studios.

The exhibitions Darro. Design and Art 1959–1979, Careful Design. Contemporary Spanish Crafts and Super-Packaging. Design Serving Design welcomed more than 53,000 visitors. Plus, the installations Home Urban Home by MINI in the central courtyard of Conde Duque and Pet Lamp Pikul by Álvaro Catalán de Ocón for Zara Home had the most visitors.

MadridDesignPRO, the professional workshops put on by the Official Professional Association of Architects of Madrid (COAM) particularly targeted at a more expert audience, offered 150 hours of activities with names like Li Edelkoort, Petrus Palmér, Jan Boelen, Benjamin Hubert and Jaime Hayon.

Madrid Design Festival opened the doors to emerging design in Romania with the project Made in Creative Quartet Bucharest, this edition’s international guest project.

The festival held activities in the Fernán Gómez Centro Cultural de la Villa, the Espacio Fundación Telefónica, Official Professional Association of Architects of Madrid, Centro Cultural Conde Duque and the Hotel Only You Atocha, as well as in guest venues like the Museo ABC, the Museo Nacional de Artes Decorativas, the Museo Arqueológico Nacional, the Museo del Romanticismo, the Museo Lázaro Galdiano, the Central de Diseño/DIMAD, Medialab Prado and Club Matador, as well as different public spaces around the city.

Gaetano Pesce and El último grito received the Madrid Design Festival Awards in the COAM auditorium in a ceremony that recognised their careers in the field of design.

Rado Star Prize Spain recognised the talent of the youngest designers in an exhibition at COAM and its prize went to the project Vajilla Petra by Miguel Gutiérrez. MINI recognised the American landscape artist Kathryn Gustafson with its MINI Design Award for her project in Valencia’s Parque Central.

Some of the shows that were part of the festival can still be visited, such as Guillermo Santomá at the Museo Cerralbo until the 24th of March, Fine Print at the Museo ABC until the 19th of May, The Power of the Image. Ágatha Ruiz de la Prada at the Museo del Traje until the 31st of March and the four shows at the Museo Nacional de Artes Decorativas, among others.
